Irgens Innovation Campus| MMSD Green Luminary® Award
At nearly an acre and a half in size, Wisconsin’s largest green roof sits atop a two-story, 633-space parking structure at Innovation Campus in Wauwatosa, Wisconsin. Completed by Irgens during Phase I of development at Innovation Campus, the parking deck’s expansive green roof features solar panels and sedum vegetation that reduces carbon emissions and manages over 105,000 gallons of water every time it rains. In addition to the green roof, the development added over 28,000 square feet of native plantings that absorb and manage an additional 11,200 gallons of stormwater due to their deep-growing roots. The native plants minimize site maintenance and provide valuable habitat for wildlife a...

Your sanitary sewer lateral is the pipe that carries your wastewater from your home (toilets, sinks, showers, laundry, floor drains, etc.) to the public sanitary sewer main that is typically in the street. As your home ages, cracks and leaks can develop in the lateral that allow groundwater into the sewer, which can overwhelm the overall system and cause stormwater and wastewater to back up in ...

Milorganite is made using one of the nation’s oldest recycling efforts. Instead of recycling plastic and glass, we recycle nutrients. Wastewater enters the Milwaukee Jones Island water reclamation facility, where all solid materials such as sand, boards, shop rags, plastic, and debris are first removed. Microbes are added to the water-the activation process-and oxygen is bubbled through the wat...

How to Install a Black MMSD Rain Barrel
Just the info I was looking for Thank you for the tip 👍
What to flush down for the sewer plant 1. POOP 2. PEE 3. PAPER TOWLS 4. MEDICATION 5. KITTY LITTER 6. DOG CHIT. 7. KAT CHIT. 8. GUMMY BEARS 9. KITCHEN TOWLS 10. KLEENEX 11. BABY WIPES 12. THE SALAD BAR THE FINAL THING TO NEVER FLUSH DOWN IS TOILET PAPER. TOILET PAPER DOES NOT BRAKE DOWN LIKE PAPER TOWLS DO. PAPER TOWLS, KITCHEN TOWLS, & KLEENEX all brake down & is safe for the sewer.. NEVER FLUSH TOILET PAPER, TOILET PAPER is not designed to be flushed down the toilet.
What's Best To Use?; Sand, Soil, or Dirt? Cause i know someone giving away Sand!
The best option to grade around your home is to use screened topsoil off the pile at a local landscape or garden center. This will be sourced locally and most likely a native silty clay loam that will be easy to work with, settle into a desired semi-permeable state, and will support vegetation. For more tips: www.mmsd.com/what-you-can-do/managing-water-on-your-property/proper-grading-around-your-home
@@mmsd thanks. What can sand do? I got bags & bags of it. Will sand bring termites or carpenter ants?
flush the only 3 p's 1.PEE 2.POOP 3.PAPER TOWLS.... NEVER flush toilet paper down, it does not brake down like paper towls do.... toilet paper can plug up the sewer line... PAPER TOWLS or KITCHEN TOWLS can be flushed down... PAPER TOWLS ARE CHEAPER THEN TOILET PAPER...
You're cooked.......did you not watch the video and listen to what she said?
The best poop is from Milwaukee. Just ask my lawn
What if we kissed in the Milwaukee Deep Tunnel System 🥺👉🏼👈🏼
Is that other air dryer going yet? Get some advertising while you're at it. It's a great product that nobody knows about.
Hi! We heat-dry Milorganite Fertilizer at our Jones Island Water Reclamation facility in 12 bus-sized, rotating kilns, which can reach temperatures of 900-1,200 F.
I hope this will eliminate the swampy mosquito sanctuary behind the apartments just west of Loomis on Edgerton.
I live in the California High Desert. Best lawn and shrub fertilizer I have ever used. Keeps my fescue lawn green in the Winter and doesn't burn in the summer. I use this 4 times a year in each season, Fall, Winter, Spring, and Summer. Getting harder to find in tbe 32 lb bags here where I live. HD used to have it, but no longer. I liked the very small pellets. Wasn't able to find it anywhere near me last year, so I got a different brand. The pellets were to big making it easy for my dogs to eat and it has a strong odor. Milorganite did not have a strong odor. I'm on the hunt for it, It's the only fertilizer I want to use. I have to have it.
THE epa encourages me to flush more PAPER TOWLS down the toilet. TOILET PAPER IS A BIG NO NO!!! maybe if companys like MILWAUKEE SEWER DISTRACT & other sewer treatment plants quit raising prices all the stupid time. i might cut back on flushing GOLF BALLS, KLEEN NEX & PAPER TOWLS... They jack up the prices the more PAPER TOWLS i flush down.. to make sewer plants like yours to work TO EARN THAT EXTRA money from JACKING UP PRICES... I use only PAPER TOWLS NO TOILET PAPER, THAT CRAP IS VERY NASTY..... THE MORE sewer plants raise prices MONTHLY the more PAPER TOWLS & GOLF BALLS THEY WILL GET... so i have to do my part for your sewer plant.. FLUSH MORE PAPER TOWLS DOWN THE TOILET.... possibly more golf balls to... i will be sure to flush down KITTY LITTER & MEDICATION.... very good for the sewer.. helps keep the pipes clean..
What about residual food (tiny bits of food stuck on bottom of pot but not a lot) because my sink is where i wash the dishes, and my toilet is literally my kitchen..?
Installing a garbage disposal in your sink can help avoid clogs from food when rinsing dishes. Dispose of all fats, oils, and grease in the garbage. This includes butter, cooking oils, fry oil, oils, dairy, and grease left from cooking meats and/or anything else that gels or solidifies at room temperature. While these will go down the drain or toilet when warm or with soap, but as they cool or mix with water they solidify in your pipes creating a clog that is very messy and difficult to remove. Never pour or flush hard chemicals, paint, oil, pesticides, cement, plaster, medications, or more than the recommended amount of drain cleaner down your drains. www.mmsd.com/what-you-can-do/what-not-to-flush
1inch per foot...excessive??
Ideally, the ground should drop one inch for every one foot that you move away from the house for the first 5-to-10 feet around your house. While this is not always possible, the ground should never be sloping upwards as you move away from your house foundation. www.mmsd.com/what-you-can-do/managing-water-on-your-property/proper-grading-around-your-home

you should only flush the 3 pees/3ps/3 p's 1. POOP 2. PEE 3. Toilet paper is specifically designed to break down in the water. Although paper towels, napkins, and facial tissue appear to be the same material, but they do not disintegrate in water like toilet paper. Any items flushed other than toilet paper can create costly clogs in your home pipes, our community sewer pipes, and our water reclamation facilities. The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) encourages all Americans to only flush toilet paper, not disinfect wipes or other non-flushable items that should be disposed of in the trash. www.epa.gov/newsreleases/epa-encourages-americans-only-flush-toilet-paper
Along with grade why not add some water barrier sheet in that area to avoid water seeping in by any chance
So Stupid and Completely Incorrect
Awesome explanation!
What about hair ?
Please put hair in the garbage. Only flush down the toilet the 3 P's (pee, poo, toilet paper) to avoid clogs in your pipes and our community sewer pipes and facilities.

What material is best to use for the pitch?
Type of Soil for Grading Around Your Home Bagged topsoil is not the best choice for grading around your home (it’s usually a compost mixture higher in organic content) and is expensive in volume. VERY GOOD DETAILS....LEARN A LOT FROM THIS VIDEO
Is it necessary to connect the downspout? A section of my yard floods and I thought it would be nice to add a rain garden to make it more beautiful. Its just grass and dirt right now.
It may be tempting to put the rain garden in a part of the yard where water already ponds, but don't! A rain garden aims to improve infiltration, and the wet patches show where infiltration in the yard is slow. Check out our rain garden manual to help guide you in installing your rain garden. www.mmsd.com/what-we-do/green-infrastructure/rain-gardens
But I use Cottonelle flushable wipes now. Aren’t they okay?
Our simple answer to your question is Do Not Flush Wipes. MMSD finds clogs in sewer pipes that appear to be from wipes and urges the communities we serve to only flush the 3 P's (pee, poo, and toilet paper) to avoid costly clogs in your pipes at home, the sewers, and the water reclamation facilities. For more information on what no to flush, please visit: www.mmsd.com/what-you-can-do/what-not-to-flush
Great video!
diaper?
Please only flush the 3 P's (Pee, Poo, toilet paper!) We recommend throwing diapers into your trash receptacles so they don't clog pipes in your house or our system. www.mmsd.com/what-you-can-do/what-not-to-flush

The Milwaukee Metropolitan Sewerage District is partnering with the City of Milwaukee, Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources, We Energies, and Port Milwaukee to create a new Dredged Material Management Facility (DMMF) in the Milwaukee harbor. When it is completed, this facility will provide safe, secure containment for 1.9 million cubic yards of sediment removed from the Milwaukee, Menomonee, and Kinnickinnic Rivers. To learn more about the DMMF and Milwaukee Area of Concern projects: www.mmsd.com/what-we-do/milwaukee-estuary-aoc/dredged-material-management-facility
Just bought a new house, never had a dad and I purely rely on RUclips to teach me those missed lessons! So add dirt, rake, and make sure there is a 4 inch decline away from the house. Do I need to compact that dirt in anyway? Perhaps even step on it or smash it down with a tool?
Ideally, the ground should drop one inch for every one foot that you move away from the house for the first 5-to-10 feet around your house. If you added soil use screened topsoil off the pile at a local landscape or garden center. This will be sourced locally and most likely a native silty clay loam that will be easy to work with, settle into a desired semi-permeable state, and will support vegetation. Tamper the soil before planting grass seed or laying sod.
Make sure to use the right soil. Loam is great its a mix of clay sand and silt just got 4 yards of it going to start grading this week.
Great point! We recommend using screened topsoil off the pile at a local landscape or garden center to grade around your home. This will be sourced locally and most likely a native silty clay loam that will be easy to work with, settle into a desired semi-permeable state, and support vegetation.
Do you need to tamper the dirt before putting grass?
Tamper the soil before planting grass seed or laying sod. Avoid using bagged topsoil is not the best choice (it’s usually a compost mixture higher in organic content) and is very expensive in volume. The better choice would be screened topsoil off the pile at a local landscape or garden center. I bought a newly constructed house-the trend is to build very close to each other, so I have a small yard. My lawn is not flat and my downspouts formed a river that flowed to my egress window (from the detached garage). I got a patio and I had my downspouts professionally buried. I no longer have this problem.

Not a bad video. But as a professional caulker for more tha 40 years there are some minor points. 1. 1/4” depth is wrong. The true rule of thumb is 1/4” minimum 1/2” maximum and within these limits strive for 1/2 the depth of the width 2. NEVER USE SAND ON TOP OF THE JOINT. It restricts the sealants ability to expand and compress 3. NEVER USE SAND AS A FILLER ALWAYS USE THE PROPER SIZE BACKER ROD Failing to do any one of these will cause the sealant to fail prematurely.
Finally a No BS video

I want a French drain into an old 6 inch well pipe. I don't get much water in my dirt basement. I'm excavating and putting in a slab. My house is higher than others.
I don't really care about the green roof, just get the the my chart app to work.
Why not use cement it self to fill that gap?
Hi, Concrete lacks the flexibility and water tight seal that polyurethane sealers, as shown in this video, offer. This flexibility is very important to compensate for the soil freezing and thawing. Using a polyurethane sealer, instead of concrete, will help prevent more cracks from forming in the future. To fill large gaps use dry sand within ½” or ¾” of the top of the concrete then finish with sealant. If the gap is wider than an inch or there are chunks of concrete missing, you may need to actually patch it with some concrete, leaving a gap for the sealant to finish with.
@@mmsd Thank you so much for detailed answer. Helpful !
Hi, my gap is just above 1 inch. Can I still use this method?
@@svddwd You can try the above method before patching with concrete and sealant.
